Firstly, a novel TDF-loaded ODF with enhanced dissolution rate was prepared by using a solvent casting method with polyvinyl alcohol 1788 (PVA1788) as a film-forming material, sodium alginate (ALG-Na) as a disintegrant, polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) as a plasticizer, and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) as a surfactant. A blank ODF formulation, including PVA1788, PEG400 and ALG-Na has been optimized previously in our laboratory [38]. Commercial tablet (Cialis®) made by Eli Lilly was purchased from local supplier. PVA1788 (low viscosity, 4% solution in water, 4.6 to 5.4 cP) and PEG400 were purchased from Aladdin Industrial Co.
